About JSON Tidy

JSON Tidy is a free tool for developers, analysts and anyone who works with JSON data. It formats messy or minified JSON into readable form, checks it for errors, compresses it again when you need a compact version, and lets you explore it as a collapsible tree.

Why we built it

API responses and config files are often delivered as a single unreadable line. We wanted a fast, clean page that opens instantly, needs no account and does not ask you to hand over your data.

Your data stays with you

All processing happens inside your browser. The JSON you paste, type or open from a file is not sent to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What it includes

Formatting with your choice of indentation, minifying, alphabetical key sorting, syntax validation with line and column errors, file open and download, loading JSON from a URL, copy to clipboard, and a searchable tree view.
